Elmira, N.Y., November 4--State Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C-Big Flats) today thanked the voters of the 58th Senate District for reelecting him to continue representing one of New York's geographically largest Senate districts for another two-year term in the Senate.

The 58th District covers the counties of Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, and Yates counties, and the eastern half of Allegany County (the towns of Alfred, Almond, Amity, Andover, Birdsall, Burns, Grove, Independence, Scio, Ward, Wellsville, and Willing).

O'Mara, who was first elected to the Senate in 2010, released the following statement:

Thank you to the voters of New York State’s 58th Senate District.  I am grateful for your ongoing and long-standing commitment, confidence, and support.

Most importantly, I look forward to continue working across this district and being a strong voice in Albany for the goals and priorities we share for the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions.

New York State will remain under complete, all-Democrat, one-party, big city, and even more far-left control. Over the past decade, these Albany Democrats have talked endlessly about New York State's affordability crisis, but they’ve shown no interest in taking the actions needed to address it. They have shown no interest in stopping their irrational, out-of-control spending; providing meaningful, long-term tax relief; addressing energy affordability with a feasible, reliable, or sustainable strategy; or rolling back burdensome, unfunded state mandates. Their vision for New York remains a vision built on irresponsibly spending billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars with no concern for the inevitable other side of the equation, which is how to pay for it.

This fight will go on.

We need to keep fighting to get this state turned around and heading in a better, safer, and stronger direction for the future, especially the future of Upstate, rural, small city communities.

We need to keep fighting for a more rational, reasonable, sensible, and workable state government, and for Upstate’s rightful place in this government.

We need to keep fighting against the far-left, socialist, tax-and-spend way of governing that still dominates Albany today. Until it changes, these Albany Democrat policies will keep driving citizens and businesses out of this state, keep New York as America’s highest-taxed state, keep making life miserable for ratepayers, keep strangling local economies, keep making it hard for families to make ends meet, and keep New Yorkers less safe and less free.
